On This Day We Two Shall Wed… On July 10th, 2014 we celebrated the marriage of Alfrey and Anthony

Tropical Fun Maui Wedding of Alfrey and Anthony On This Day We Two Shall Wed… On July 10th, 2014 we celebrated the marriage of Alfrey and Anthony Alfrey and Anthony dreamed of traveling from their native New Zealand to have a tropical wedding in Hawaii. When they found Sugar Beach they knew that they had found their “heaven in the tropics” location. Thank you Jessica Pearl of Pearl Wedding Photography for allowing us to tell this Maui wedding story through your beautiful images.

Gorgeous tropical flowers by Bella Bloom and hues of yellow, orange, fuchsia pink, purple, and lime green set the scene. We especially adored the bride’s bird of paradise bouquet, which looked striking against her white dress. The groom and groomsmen emphasized the tropical theme with their hibiscus-patterned ties.

Guests enjoyed several scrumptious appetizers.

  • Caprese Crostini ~ fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil

  • Chicken Satays

  • Traditional Beef Sliders

  • Garlic Roasted Shrimp ~ zesty cocktail sauce

In the theme of tropical fun, two signature cocktails were offered: Bahama Mama: rums, grenadine, orange and pineapple juice and ice Rum Punch: Bacardi Spiced Rum shaken with mango syrup, amaretto, pineapple juice and fresh lime

The reception layout and decor felt really fresh and unique. Burlap runners, lime napkins, and brown bamboo chargers from wedding planner Tori Rogers added nice pops of texture and color. Ribbon streamers and poms made a playful backdrop to the buffet and dessert tables. Hearts symbolizing love were scattered throughout the celebration. Light-up hearts adorned the location, “Better Together” hearts were showcased in a vase, and a rustic heart hung above the head table. The Guest Book was a wooden tree with a heart at the bottom engraved by Miss B Calligraphy.

Dinner: Herbed pork loin with ginger and hoisin glaze Miso marinated walu with sweet soy drizzle New York strip steak with red wine reduction Butternut squash ravioli with sage brown butter and shaved parmesan Kula greens and spinach with hearts of palm, walnuts, strawberries and poppy seed dressing Grilled, balsamic seasoned vegetables Jasmine and lemongrass scented rice Freshly baked breads and butter Coffee and tea service Dessert: Wedding Cake and Ice Cream Sundae Station Ice cream flavors: mint chocolate chip, vanilla chocolate chip, and chocolate Sauces: chocolate, mixed berries, caramel Toppings: toasted nuts, sprinkles, coconut, M&Ms, peanut butter cups, crushed Oreos, maraschino cherries, mini chocolate chips

Music was a meaningful part of Alfrey and Anthony’s relationship, and these songs told a story of love and lasting friendship. Their first dance as husband and wife took place in the 20×20 wooden structure custom sized around the 16×16 dance floor. They were under a large cluster of white paper lanterns of various sizes. It was very romantic. It was heavenly. It was the one moment of the day that belonged all to them.

Cheers to Alfrey and Anthony! May your love continue to blossom as you dance through this journey of life together.
