A creative DIY guest book that also creates an interactive guest experience is a Polaroid Guest Book. It encourages guests to let loose, strike a pose, and mix and mingle with your other guests. Think about how you can create a functional and visually appealing one-stop Polaroid Guest Book station for your guests to easily access throughout your event. I know you are wondering how many cameras you will need to provide. A good rule of thumb is to have a Polaroid Camera per every 35 guests so the wait is not long. I always suggest starting with two cameras, as the goal is to provide enough cameras for everyone to snap a picture without waiting an extensive amount of time for their turn. Your guests will most likely make a few attempts at taking a perfect photo, you'll need to purchase a lot of film. I'd assume every guest will take at least three photos, so do the math. Better to buy too much film than not have enough.

Purchase a guest book that will provide enough pages for each guest to leave a message with their photo. I recommend selecting a book that aligns with your color and/or wedding theme. Since this will be an album you may want to display in your home for years to come, choose a sturdy album/book with a beautiful aesthetic.

Rent a table to display the book and all of your supplies, while also providing room for your guests to easily write their message to you. Get creative with the display, using fun vessels for the pens, glue sticks, stickers, film packages, cameras, etc. Do you have a vintage camera? Photos of you together? Make it cute!

Be sure to provide permanent markers (color variations are more fun!) so the ink dries quickly and does not smear. You will need a variety of adhesives, such as double-sided tape, glue dots, glue sticks, etc. Consider fun additions to the process, such as fun stickers, photo props, and a great backdrop.

Lighting is very important so the photos look good and guests can see as they write their messages. Provide signage because not everyone knows what this is or how it works. If you can appoint a monitor for a period of time, guests will find this to be very helpful.

The best way to start off the guest book is to place an example in it for your guests to see. If you have a pet or pets, snap a photo of your pet(s) and write a message to you from him/her/them. Put it on the first page to use as an example (also a great photo op for the photographer when photographing the details of your Guest Book Station.
